The American Dream

The American Dream by Steven J Smith

This is a short novella, set in New York in the 1920s about an Englishman experiencing his own version of the American Dream, as he falls in love with a rich socialite. This is a story of the ‘Jazz Age’ with all of its’ shocking excess.

  1. This story is a well written piece of prose, highlighting the ‘beautiful and the damned’ of New York in the 1920s. Great work.

  2. Loved this story, beautifully written; I love the era and this author really got the ambience of the 1920s to perfection. Great ending too.

  3. This is a really fantastic novella, with more than a hint of F Scott Fitzgerald in there; beautifully sad and lyrical prose, I truly love this story and have already read it three times, finding more nuances and highlights each time. Great story – EVERYBODY should read it! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
